Parking Lot Procedures
General Rules

Use only the entrance on 20th Street.

When parking, please use the spaces provided in the lot.

The speed limit is 10 miles per hour.

Only BCMA staff should be on the sidewalks with the children.

For the safety of everyone, please stay in your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up times.

Students will not be released from the office during dismissal between 2:45-3:00.

Students with appointments should be picked up before 2:45. Please call the office at (269) 339-3308 to schedule early release.

Students who walk home from school will be released once the carline is cleared.
-
Smoking and vaping is not permitted on school grounds, in your car or otherwise. You will be asked to leave the premises immediately.
Pick Up Procedures
K-8 Students

Students will be dismissed from the back entrance (near the gym) at 3:00 PM.

Please form a double line next to the playground and merge once you get to the turn back towards the building.

If you are the first car, please pull up to the vestibule doors.

Students are called by staff members and will be brought to cars; parents should wait in their car/please do not wait by the doors.

Please allow extra time for proper child restraints to be fastened.
Preschool and Siblings of Preschool Students

Students will be dismissed from the back entrance beginning at 2:55.

Please form a double line along the playground fence. Once you get to the turn, please merge with other traffic.

If you are the first car, please pull up to the vestibule entrance.

Students will be brought to cars.
Drop Off Procedures
All Students

Enter the car line from 20th Street.

Form a line around the parking area.

There is a drop-off line.
-
There will be staff at the door at 7:45 – 8:00 AM.

Students will cross the parking lot for morning recess in groups with a staff member.

Please use the carline to drop your child off. Unless a parent is signing in a tardy student or dropping something off in the office, all other adults need a visitor’s pass to be in the school building.

Students are considered tardy after 8:00 AM.

Please park in a designated parking space, not along the sidewalk, walk your child to the door closest to 20th street (by the office) and sign your child in.
Attendance Policies
Did you know attendance is critical to your child’s success?
- It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to get their child to school.
- Missing just five days of school means 30 hours of missed instructional time.
- Starting in kindergarten, there is a direct link between absences and reading level.
- One in ten kindergarten and first-grade students is chronically absent.
- Students who are chronically absent are 7.5 times more likely to drop out of high school.
CHRONIC ABSENCE: 10 or more days
WARNING SIGNS: 7-9 days
SATISFACTORY: 6 or fewer days
