Green Wolf Pack Leads the Way for Sustainability

At Battle Creek Montessori Academy students are energized about taking care of the Earth and helping their community while learning some of the most important issues facing the world in the 21st century.

Leading the way to an enriched and environmentally-focused student group are two students Olivia Porter (third grade) and Niara Sykes (fourth grade).

They have named their group the Green Wolf Pack.

For the first meeting, there were over 35 students in attendance who wanted to be part of the group. They discussed ideas such as getting more recycling canisters and composting.

Both Olivia and Niara emphasized that they wanted research to be part of the group so that they can learn and be smart about things that are affecting the Earth.

“The world has problems and it is our job to fix them. We want others to know how to make the world a better place,” Olivia said.

“By the end of the year, we want to decrease the amount of pollution that we contribute to the earth. We are hoping to find ways to make this happen,” Niara said.

“We are excited about having Niara and Olivia lead the way as they help BCMA students understand the importance of making our world more sustainable,” said Jes Eldridge, Head of School at BCMA.

“It is so innovative that our students saw a need and are now making it happen. They are our future and true inspiration,” Eldridge said. “I’m excited to see the group develop ideas and implement new projects for the entire community.”
