At BCMA each month we focus on a selected character trait. These traits are to help our students become well rounded citizens of our community and world. Each month we celebrate the traits in our rooms by reading related stories, completing writing prompts, having guest speakers, and using them in our everyday vocabulary. Some of our traits include; respect, responsibility, integrity and compassion.
During the month of December our school celebrated compassion. Each class chose a community service project. One of our pre-primary rooms sang Christmas carols at a nursing home, another created get well baskets for children in the hospital during the holiday season, and another created cards and visited a nursing home.
At BCMA, compassion doesn’t stop there. We pride ourselves on being active members of our community. Our middle school students have hosted a food drive for an animal rescue organization, we have raised money for a local soup kitchen, and all of the teachers donated their time at the soup kitchen prior to the school year starting. We are also hoping with our school gardens this summer to donate fresh produce.
